Answers:

What's the idea?
Exchanges WorldWide brings together people from all over the world who have holiday or vacation property they wish to exchange, rent or sell.

What's the advantage of joining?
Joining Exchanges WorldWide allows you to add your property details to our database. It allows you to view contact information for other properties so that you can make exchanges direct with other members, with the initial contact by e-mail.

How do I join?
Go to the Join Us section of the web site. There you can enter your property and contact details, and you will instantly be e-mailed your user ID and your personal password. You can then use these to log in and view other property contact details.

How much does it cost?
Club membership costs just £12 (approximately $17) per year regardless of how many exchanges you make.

Is there a fee for each exchange?
No - the annual membership is your only payment to Exchanges WorldWide. We don't restrict you in any way, so you can make as many exchanges as you like all for one fixed fee.

How often can I exchange?
As often as you like!

Can I amend my property details?
Yes - just log in to the Members' Area using your user ID and password and you can change your property entry at any time of the day and night.

What can I exchange?
Anything! You could exchange a week in a Florida timeshare for two weeks bed and breakfast in an Edinburgh guest house, or a cottage in Ireland for a week on a boat in Australia. Or a RV in California for a hotel stay in London. Or an apartment in New York for a house in Canada. It's up to you!

What if I would like to rent, sell or buy a property?
Members have the option of adding this to their property details. When you view other members' details you will see whether this option is available for a particular property.

What if the exchanges have different values?
You have the flexibility to balance value - you could adjust length of stay, or match different times of year, or even make a cash adjustment. It's up to you.

Is there a formal exchange contract?
No - you are entirely free to make your own arrangements. You may want to take a quick look at our example of a contract for home exchanges.

Can I make my own travel arrangements?
Yes. You are welcome to make any arrangements you like.

What if I have more than one property?
No problem - you need to complete a separate membership application for each property.

Is it safe to exchange my home with a stranger?
Yes, however, we recommend that you ask for and check out references. We also advise that you make an effort to get to know your exchange partner by email, telephone and snail mail. Many people exchange photographs and videos of their family and home before they make final arrangements. Remember, you will be living in your exchange partner's home as well, and their concerns are very similar to yours. A home exchange is built on trust, and the mutual respect of each other's property is what makes home exchange possible and indeed highly successful.

If I am exchanging my home with someone, what should I do with possessions that I won’t be taking with me?
We recommend that you make a checklist of all valuables, but if there is anything you don’t want people to use, then it is best to either remove them from the house, or store them in a safe place (i.e. the loft, cellar, a lockable room or cupboard). Remember that these will be like-minded people to you and will respect your property in the same way that you will respect yours. It can be a good idea to sign a contract, setting these details out as in our sample.
